Past Activities

Some of our meetings and activities. If you are a member we would appreciate some news, and photos if possible, of any interesting LETS activities.

Above: We held a Flea Market and Jumble Sale at Washford Village Hall. The photos were taken before the doors opened as the photographer was too busy selling things after it opened!
This dovecote was made by a member. The roof was made from an old copper hot water cylinder acquired from another member.
Above: A member held a Gardening Party, where members helped prepare the garden for the coming year, and enjoyed a relaxing and sociable lunch.
Watchet Coffee Morning We held a series of Coffee Mornings in Watchet, where members traded, chatted and drank coffee.
We had a walk in the woods near Roadwater, followed by a cream tea at a members home. Group photo at Roadwater
LETS stand at Minehead Co-Op We had a recruitment stall in the entrance of the Co-operative supermarket in Minehead.
We had a recruitment stall at the One World Fair at Minehead Methodist Church. LETS stand at Minehead One World Fair
LETS stand at Minehead One World Fair We organised a public meeting entitled "The Brave New Economy in West Somerset" at the Friends Meeting House in Minehead, where various speakers talked about:
  • Community banking and alternatives to money
  • Ethical investment and the impact on communities of the changing banking scene
  • Buying without money through the LETS scheme
  • Credit Unions for affordable credit and local savings
The speakers were Ian Hinds (Co-operative Bank), Mike Atkinson (Community Enterprise Worker for Credit Unions) and Hester Watson (West Somerset LETS)
The event was supported by The Community Regeneration in the South West Partnership (CRISP)
We held an Annual General Meeting at the Friends Meeting House in Minehead. After the formal business and refreshments we held an informal discussion on ways of improving trading within the group. Our Annual General Meeting
Work in a member's garden Several members helped to clear an area of a members garden, ready to plant fruit trees.
