How To Trade
There are several ways that members can arrange to
trade with each other:
Paper Directory
We issue a printed directory to all members once a year, with updates in our newsletter. This shows the name and phone number (and sometimes an e-mail address) of the member who is listing the offer or want. Members can make contact directly, and arrange a trade.
The Broker
We have a Broker to help members to trade. She will
keep members offers and wants on a database and can
be contacted by phone, e-mail, snail-mail, and almost
any other way imaginable! A member asks the Broker
to find someone who offers what they are looking for,
or who wants what they offer. The Broker searches
the database and uses his knowledge of members, and
tries to organise a trade. This is especially useful
to members who may be nervous of making direct contact
with another member.
The Broker will update the database every time she
is advised of a change, and will therefore have a
more up to date list of offers and wants than the
printed directory.
Meetings
At our meetings we go round the room asking each member present if they have anything they wish to offer, or anything they want. This often results in a trade being arranged on the spot.
